Blockchain Access Layer (2)

Digital Infrastructure for data certification and smart contract implementation

The Blockchain Access Layer (BAL) is an architectural layer that adds a further level of security and trustworthiness to the framework. It certifies data coming from the Light-Node device and runs Smart-Contracts. It enables a full data integration chain, including data collection, data quality and data provisioning with the Light Node.

Interview with:
Alessandro Chelli
Apio S.R.L.

Interviewer: Alessandro Chelli, the Blockchain Access Layer (2) is one of the key results of the Platone project whose development coordinated by the consortium partner Apio. Let´s assume I am responsible for the monitoring and billing of the Aggregator "Energy for Everyone” in Italy. I mostly spend my days implementing innovative digital solutions to facilitate transactions and improve our business. We are now facing issues in gathering valid and certified reference data through which I can execute my transactions with clients. What does the Blockchain Access Layer offer?

Alessandro Chelli: Our open-source Blockchain Access Layer works as a layer between DERs and Local Flexibility Market and acts to increase the security and trustworthiness levels. This layer certifies on blockchain the real-time measurements from the main meters and runs Smart-Contracts.

Interviewer: How does the blockchain access layer make data accessible?

Alessandro Chelli: The blockchain access layer deposits the data in the shared customer database which will publish the certified data.

Interviewer: Do I have to apply to someone to enable certification of data from my flexible users?

Alessandro Chelli: No, because it is already implemented by default within Platone's solution.

Interviewer: One more question after looking a bit deeper into your solution: are there any training materials I can use to help with internal distribution?

Alessandro Chelli: Yes for sure, the solution has been actively tested and developed during the course of the Platone project. Therefore, there are plenty of technical documents available on the project website.

Interviewer: What would happen after the interested aggregator has successfully implemented and tested your solution?

Alessandro Chelli: The party could sign a support contract that includes training sessions and stand-by support. This will ensure further development of the tool internally as well as better understanding of such processes in general within its organization.

Interviewer: Thanks a lot for this interview, Alessandro Chelli!
